WOW!!! What a week it was with the cold weather and frost. Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday were in the upper twenties and low thirties and had frost each day. Was cold and windy. Not very nice most of the week. Folks covered their gardens and flower beds. I did hear we are to get some 70 degree weather this week. See what happens.
Sympathy from the community to the family and friends of John Hoodak who passed away on the 14th.
St. Vladimir’s Church has pierogies for sale on the first and third Sunday of each month. They are available at the Church Hall from Noon to 1 p.m. Call 570-928-8909 to order yours.
I think the hummers are gone. We did see a bunch during the week. Must have been making their last stop from Canada before going South.
On Wednesday, in the morning, Mike and Heather McDonald and I watched a bald eagle circling overhead for a while and finally went on its way. Heather went to get the camera and it had gone. Was quite a sight to see.
Irene Pequignot spent the weekend at her home here. Sophie Bednar came to visit on Sunday.
Joe and Diane Fanning, along with Molly, spent a few days at their home here and did a lot of yard work. Won’t have to mow grass much longer; it’s too cold.
Rounding out the month with Happy Birthday wishes to Annaliese Froese and Jon-Paul Matychak, 25th; Ted Beaver and Dinky Burke, 27th; and Kurt Schroeder, 29th. Have a nice day.
Happy Anniversary to Dustin and Sam Burke as they celebrate on the 28th. Enjoy your day.
B’s gang sends Happy Birthday wishes to Tom Finan on the 25th. Hope it’s super!
Hardly seems possible that summer has gone by so fast. It’s too early to be this cold. We need warm and sunshine for a while yet. Hopefully we’ll get Indian summer for some more enjoyment.
Next Civic meeting will be on Wednesday, October 21st, 6 p.m. at the Township Building since it’s getting too cold at the Pavilion. Membership dues are due. See Heather to renew or to become a member of the Civic. Volunteer to help out your community. Civic still has Lopez masks, t-shirts, hoodies and koozies for sale. If interested, contact me at the info below.
I guess that’s about it. Enjoy your week and hope we do get that 70 degree weather. Wear the mask, do the social distancing and wash your hands. That’s about all we can do to help get rid of the virus. Have news call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
