October 2, 2019
Had a week with some pretty warm temperatures, after cool mornings. Maybe we’ll get a few more. Did have rain all day Thursday and some on Saturday. The colors are changing and the leaves are falling. Had a report of four big flocks of geese going South on Sunday morning. The chipmunks are busily packing their mouths with seeds to store for the winter. Lots of Fall decorations out around town. They all look so festive.
OK. Here we go. Got a call about another “cat” outside Lopez on Route 487, near Lesterville. This was on Friday between 5:30 and 6 pm. But this time, it was a black panther. I’m only reporting what I was told. First, they thought it was a bear, but it glided across the road. A car coming along stopped and watched it for a while too. It was definitely a black panther, according to the phone caller.
St. Vladimir’s Church has pierogies for sale. To order, call 570-928-1099.
Alex and Ginny Stavisky, Palm Bay, FL, spent some time at their home on Main Street. Enjoyed the nice Fall weather and watching the leaves changing.
Don’t forget the Fall Festival coming up on Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13 at the Forksville Fairgrounds. Keep an eye on the Sully for details.
Halloween is on the horizon. Get your costume ready. The Lopez Civic Association will hold their annual Halloween party on the 31st, 6 p.m. at the Pavilion. Treats and goodies and prizes.
Next Civic meeting will be on Tuesday, the 15th, 6 p.m. at the Pavilion, weather permitting. If too cold or stormy, will be at the Township Building. Have you paid your 2020 dues? They are now due. If you haven’t paid 2019, they are also due. See Membership Chairperson, Heather McDonald to take care of this.
Joe and Diane Fanning, along with Molly, Landenberg, spent Sunday and Monday at their home on Church Street and did some, hopefully, last time mowing there. Weather was really nice while they were here.
