Hope you all had an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend and took the time to say a prayer and honor those who sacrificed their life so we could be free. Our week was pretty nice for a change. Monday and Tuesday lows were in the 50’s; Wednesday was 38 degrees but warmed up and was sunny and breezy. Thursday there was a frost with only 26, but by 2 p.m. it had warmed up to 70 degrees. Friday we had some rain late in the day. Saturday the low was 60 degrees. Can you believe that. Got up to 80 degrees by 5 p.m. Was warm, sunny and nice. Sunday was more clouds than sun but still warm and a nice day for those celebrating the holiday. Sunday evening we were treated to some fireworks from three different places. They were nice and enjoyable.
In my walks over the weekend I saw many folks out and about and things going on. Some were working in their gardens and flower beds; some were mowing lawns; say quite a few quads and dirt bikes going back and forth. There were families taking walks and some enjoying the pond and Nessie. I could smell the food cooking on the grills as they were having cook-outs. All in all, a great holiday weekend for a change. So glad the rain held off for the weekend. I talked to some that had heavy rain on Saturday. We had really black clouds for a while, but they passed over and we got nothing here. Mother Nature was finally good to us.
People are starting to come a little more often, but still taking precautions and doing the social distancing and wearing masks when out shopping. Businesses are slowly re-opening, with restrictions. Little by little, maybe we’ll finally get back to about normal. Because of this virus, most summer activities have been cancelled. Let’s hope next year everyone will do much better and this virus will be long gone and a thing of the past.
Congratulations to Joel Barnosky who was promoted from Lt Col to Col USAFR on May 27th, via Zoom. Joel and his wife, Bernadette, and son, spend time when they can at the homestead in Lopez..
Civic meeting on Tuesday, June 16th, 6 p.m. at the Pavilion. Flea market for June 20th has been cancelled and hope another date is in the future.

Guess that’s it. Enjoy your week. I heard warm weather, with some rain likely, but that’s much better than cold and frost and very windy. Have news call me at 570-928-9238; see me or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
