Well, another week with some “iffy” weather. Had some low temperatures in the early morning and some days it warmed up and some it did not. A few days of frost. Lots of sun. Of course, lots of wind. Saturday was really nice and lots of motorcycles were out and about. Sunday was nice until light rain started to fall around 4 p.m. in the afternoon. I don’t like the weather report I heard for the week……chance of showers every day………..hope it will change. Seems like summer will just pass us by.
Businesses are slowly getting back open, but still with restrictions. Maybe soon it will be back to “normal”, what that is. Check out the dining and entertainment page for take-out foods and other things that may have gotten back to being open. I know there are many, many people waiting for the barber shops and beauty salons to open.
We only had one confirmed case of the virus in Sullivan County. I see on TV the other night when they showed the map, Sullivan County now has two confirmed cases. Hope that will be it.
There will be a Civic meeting on Tuesday, June 16th, 6 p.m. at the Pavilion so we can do “social distancing”. Hope we can get some summer activities planned.
Happy Birthday wishes go out to Susan Aharonian, 24th; Tanya Stasiak, 25th; Michele Craig and Jake Gardner (will be 92), 26th; Nick DeSanto, 29th; and Bruno Day, 31st. Hope you all have a nice day.
Happy Anniversary to Tony and Patti Sneidar as they celebrate on the 26h; Joe and Diane Fanning, 28th; and Jack and Joyce Walsh on the 29th. Have a great day.
B’s Gang sends birthday wishes to Sandy Pardoe as she celebrates her special day on the 31st. Hope it’s a fun day.
Guess that’s it for this time. Enjoy your week. May need the umbrella, but get out anyway. Fresh air will make you feel good. Not much going on with gardens and flower beds with all the frost and rain. Maybe get that done soon. Have news call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.

Webmaster, Got an interesting note from my buddy Alex, and thought it should be shared cause memories can be heart warming:
“I was thinking about the Lopez Memorial Day services having to be canceled this year. Somehow that hit me. I remember when we lived in Pennsylvania we would always bring the kids to Lopez that weekend. It wasn’t just for a holiday but a lesson in patriotism and civic pride. Every year new questions would arise for me to answer. As part of our day we would visit the cemetery after the services. Mike, about 6, was counting all the Veteran flags when Cindy asked me, “Dad, why did they have to die?” I could only answer that question with a hug. Without fail, our kids proudly display the Stars & Stripes at their homes. Mom and I could not be more proud of them.
This year, as always, I will be seeing Mary Gavlick placing the wreath in front of the Lopez Memorial. Take care and we hope to see you all sometime this summer.”
