March 8, 2017
WOW!! What a “brutal” (as Kurt Aaron says) weekend. Saturday was 8 degrees with flurries and VERY windy and cold. Only got to about 20 degrees all day. On Sunday it was MINUS two early in the morning and did manage to get up to 20 maybe (one time said 30, but that was the sun on the thermometer). It was also really cold, but not quite as windy. Still see lots of turkeys in the fields. Birds have been coming and emptying the feeders; haven’t seen any deer lately. Let’s see what the weather does during the week; some reports are warmer and nice; some reports are snow coming and not so nice.
ALERT: Sunday, the 12th is the time to turn your clocks AHEAD one hour. Sounds good to me. Will be longer days and not seem like we have to go to bed at 7 p.m. as it’s so dark. Hopefully, the weather will change and it will get nice and stay that way. The geese have pretty much been coming back, so maybe that’s good too.
Glad to hear that Carmela Walosin is feeling much better and hope she continues to improve. She is glad to be back at home.
Hope everyone that has been bothered with colds and flu bug are getting better and back to normal.
St. Vladimir’s Church has pierogies for sale. To order, call 570-928-1099. They are good any time of year; not just for holidays.
HINT: “Instead of using a dryer sheet, ball up one or two sheets of aluminum foil and toss it in the dryer. It removes the static electricity from your clothes and one can last up to a year.” (The only thing is, there is nothing to make the clothes smell nice and I don’t think it will really work. Let me know; I don’t have a dryer.)
Happy Birthday to Janelle Day and Lyle Weidner, both on the 9th; Ruby Malkemes and Tally Rose (McGee) Tierney, 10th; Monte Gulich and Julien Bonner, 11th; Bob McGuire, Sr., 13th; and Amy Simmons, our Post Mistress, 14th. Hope you all have a really nice day.
I’m sure there are still events going on around the County that may interest you. Keep a check on the Sully to find out.

It was nice to visit Chris Cokos and Leo McDonald in Dushore one day last week. They both look well.
From Mr. Neubauer’s little brown book: March 5, 1974 – warm rain and 58 degrees. Now, I’ll take that over what we had for March 5, 2017.
Guess that’s the news for this time. Enjoy your week and let’s hope the weatherman is right and give us nice weather. Have news, call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
Yep, still coming down. Road crew doing their job.
