Was a gorgeous weekend. Hope this nice weather continues. I know rain is needed as it’s very dry, but I’ll take the more summer like weather.
Mr. Bruin has been back in town lately. Many have seen him around and when we came into town late Sunday evening, he crossed the road in front of us, going from Flat Street to the lane by the Post Office. Was the “big guy”. Talking to a neighbor, I guess he had been seen up near Cold Spring also. He was just ambling along, no cares. I think he was going to the creek for a drink.
We were gone over the weekend, so don’t know a whole lot that went on. We went up to Guilderland, NY, to help my Dad celebrate his 98th birthday. Many relatives and friends gathered for this special occasion. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time.
Still time to get your donation in to help defray the cost of fireworks for this year’s Old Home Day display on Saturday evening. If you’d like to help, send your donation to Brian McGuire, 197 Main St., Lopez, PA 18628. Will be much appreciated.
This past Tuesday and Wednesday, St. Vladimir’s Church hosted its first annual summer Bible program for children and teens. Each day our students enjoyed a Bible lesson and discussion, this year focusing on prayer and the fruit of the Holy Spirit; fun songs; meaningful arts and crafts related to prayer; interactive games; and, of course, a delicious lunch to nourish the body after nourishing the soul. We thank everyone who participated and helped make this first summer program a great success! All are welcome to come to our next program!
Last Saturday, the Lopez community enjoyed the fun picnic and yard sale hosted by St. Vladimir’s Church. Friends, neighbors, and even some out-of-towners stopped by for a complimentary hamburger and hotdog right off the grill and had a great time visiting with one another. While kids had fun playing a variety of outdoor games, like badminton, croquet, ladder golf, and the classic corn hole, many adults took advantage of the great deals found at the yard sale in the church hall. We had a perfect day for food, fun, and fellowship. Hope you can join us next time!

Hint: “You can get woody seeds, such as moonflower, passionflower, morning glory and gourds off to a healthier start by lightly rubbing them between a couple sheets of fine sandpaper and soaking them overnight in a solution of 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar and 1 pint of warm water. Next morning, remove the seeds, rinse them off and plant them.”
