Guess I can only say one word for the week………RAIN. Itrained every day until Saturday and Sunday, when it finally gotnice, sunny and hot. I’ll take it. The ground is still squishy and wet. We need more warm days to dry things up.
Bob and Tyler McGuire, Hunlock Creek, came up over Father’s Day to spend time with his parents and wish him a Happy Day.
Congratulations to Kaeleigh and Kyleigh McDonald who both made the honor roll at Agora Cyber school. Good job.
There were twenty-two guys who spent the weekend at the Ridge Runners cabin on Flat Street. Three generations of Hermans have kept the cabin going. They were from Allentown, Reading, Kutztown and other areas. They came to have a bachelor party for one of the Herman boys who is getting married in September. They were trying to talk him out of the wedding, but didn’t have any luck. The young fella said he’s very happy to be getting married. They all had a good time playing corn hole, horseshoes and other games. They were neighbor friendly.
Volunteers are needed on July 2nd for Pavilion clean-up to get ready for the up-coming Flea Market on July 6th. If you’re free and can help, meet at the Pavilion at 4 p.m. Many hands make light work.
The Flea Market will be on Saturday, July 6th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are still a few tables left. If interested in selling your things, contact me and I’ll put your name on a table for you. I think there will something to everyone’s liking, so stop up and browse around……..then buy your treasures.
St. Vladimir’s Church has pierogies for sale. To order, call 570-928-1099.
The Mike McDonald family enjoyed camping over the weekend and the weather was perfect.
PEOPLE — School is out. Kids are playing, riding bikes, etc. It seems that so many are not being diligent in their driving and it’s like they have to be in such a hurry to get nowhere. Please slow down. You know who you are, so take it easy. It’s too late when there’s a serious accident. Leave a little earlier and you’ll get wherever.
We need some volunteers for Old Home Day on Saturday, August 3rd. If you can give some time — a little or a lot — please contact Bob or Brian McGuire. It will be appreciated. You will be helping the Civic Association and the community and will make Old Home another success.
There will be fireworks Old Home Day by “Booms, Booms by “B”. They do get expensive and it’s a pretty fantastic show. If you’d like to help defray the cost of the fireworks, please contact Brian at 570-928-9838. Any donation will be greatly appreciated.
I guess the bear(s) have been making the rounds again. Tim Brown had one in his yard that tipped over his burning barrel and left. Guess there was nothing good in there. There was one seen walking down Maple Terrace and went between Lowden’s house and garage. They are coming earlier now too. Makes you keep an eye out and always looking over your shoulder to make sure one isn’t near you. And, the Game Commission keeps bringing more and dropping them off at the Game Lands, so they just keep coming back around town, and most of them have at least one ear tag.
Happy Birthday wishes to Mamie Kravetz as she celebrates 94 years young on the 2nd of July. Also, the same day are Don Springer and Stacey Olsen; Brandan McCobin, 4th. Hope you all have a good day.
Happy Anniversary to Kurt and Linda (Popso) Schroeder as they celebrate on the 3rd. Mike and Heather McDonald celebrate 12 years on the 7th; and so does his daughter, Kristin and Jeffrey Mensch, for four years. Congratulations to all.
B’s gang sends birthday wishes to Chris Darrow on the 2nd; and Bill Stasiak on the 6th. Have a good day.
