JULY 10, 2019
Hope you all had a nice Fourth of July holiday. Weather was off the charts. Monday was pretty nice. Tuesday and Wednesday we had rain, hot, sunny and muggy. Fourth of July we had pouring rain late evening for an hour. Friday and Saturday, it was hot and humid most of the day. Also, on Saturday, the Lopez Civic Association had their annual flea market at the Pavilion from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everyone got loaded up when it was over and just after we got home, about 3:30 p.m., it got so dark and windy and began to pour. Had a couple of downpours. Sunday was a beautiful day. I heard most of next week is to be less humid and lower temperatures, with no showers.
St. Vladimir’s Church has pierogies for sale. To order, call 928-1099.
It’s been asked by a few people if there will be a chicken dinner this year at Old Home Day on Saturday, August 3rd. The answer is YES. It will be hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary, Post 452, Mildred American Legion. The Civic Association will have games, t-shirts, hoodies, hay rides, dunk tank, food and DJ “B” will spin the discs from 9 to midnight. There will again be awesome fireworks at 10 p.m., courtesy of Boom-Booms by “B”. If you’d like to help with the cost of fireworks, please call or see Brian McGuire. Bingo will be done by Saints Peter and Paul Church and St. Vladimir’s Church will have a variety of foods. So, please come out and support these organizations and have a great day. It will be appreciated. The Gypsy’s will play earlier in the afternoon.
