We had a pretty nice week weather-wise. We did have a couple rain storms but they didn’t last long. Gave the gardens and flowers a little drink at least. The weekend weather was perfect as folks were at their cabins, homes, campgrounds for the Holiday weekend. They pretty much stayed contained and enjoyed picnics, quad riding, pool time and games. Had quite a few really nice fireworks displays that we watched from your back yard. Sunday at 8 p.m. it was still 75 degrees and sunny.
James Walsh, Dushore, a service veteran, came to Lopez on Saturday, the 4th and visited each cemetery and played taps. What a tribute to our men and women. Thanks so much, James. It was so appreciated for you to do this and we did hear the playing of taps. Thanks, Jack, for giving me that information.
Remember, the Civic meetings for July, August and September will be held on WEDNESDAY, rather than Tuesday. July 22, August 19, and September 16, 6 p.m. at the Pavilion where we social distance and wear masks.
Last I heard, the latest virus number is 10. We were doing so good with none and now we are climbing. Let’s hope it doesn’t go up any more. Just take the usual precautions and all will be fine, I hope.
Happy Birthday wishes to Samantha Burke, 10th; Dan Stasiak, 11th; Quinn Vinetelli, 12th; Woody Woodford and Averie Bahr, 13th; David Black and Molly Johnson, 14th. Have a nice day.
Happy Anniversary to David and Lavonne Black and Matt and Sherill Dayton as they both celebrate on the 14th. Have a wonderful day.
The bear(s) are still around all different times of the day and evening. There have been some pretty good pictures on Face Book of what they’ve been up to. The deer, bunnies and chipmunks are around looking for treats.
I see the Sullivan County Fair has been cancelled. That’s too bad, but for the best, due to rise in virus cases. It’s really a shame that so many summer activities have had to be cancelled. Hopefully next year will be a really good year for everyone.
Guess that’s the news. Enjoy your week. I heard chance of rain EVERY day, but it’s been predicted before and never happened, so we’ll see. Get out in this nice weather. If it does rain, it will still be warm. Just take an umbrella.
Have news, call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopez.com. I will put it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
