July 1, 2020
We had some really nice weather during last week. Lots of sun, warmth and breezes. Saturday it poured early, but gave the gardens, flower beds and baskets a nice drink. Sunday came came in afternoon and all got a nice drink again. Made everything spring right up.
NOTICE: THE JULY, AUGUST, AND SEPTEMBER CIVIC MEETINGS WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, RATHER THAN TUESDAY, DUE TO A CONFLICT WITH SOMETHING ELSE THAT COULDN’T BE CHANGED. STILL 6 P.M. AT THE PAVILION. DATES ARE JULY 22, AUGUST 19, AND SEPTEMBER 16. MARK YOUR CALENDAR SO YOU WILL REMEMBER.
The animals are still around. Bear(s), coyotes and fox have been seen roaming. The mother bear and two cubs are visiting many people in town and I heard there is a mother bear and three cubs up on State Game Lands outside of town. Be on the watch for these guys. Someone posted on Face Book that they put their dog out and heard so much commotion. When they checked, the bear had the dog in his mouth. They made lots of noise and the bear finally let go, went to the neighbors to harass the dogs there. This was in Mildred. We just have too many bear around here and they come earlier and closer all the time.
Hope you all have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July holiday. I imagine lots of picnics, family time and pool time over that weekend.
Saw on TV the other night that Sullivan County is now up to four confirmed cases of COVID 19. Don’t know how the others are doing, but hope they are recovering well. Would be nice if the whole thing would go away, but doesn’t seem like it will anytime soon.
