January 20, 2021
Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. The weather was up and down with rain, frost, snow and wind. A couple of days hit the higher 40 degree mark. There was a couple of days that there was enough snow to shovel and plow. Don’t know what the week will bring as it changes too often. Have to wait and see day by day.
Not much to report. Seems folks are staying pretty much to themselves with this virus going on. Cases seem to be going up daily. Doesn’t seem like it’s going anywhere soon and it’s now also flu season. If you do go out, please wear your mask, practice distancing and wash your hands often. If you can, support the local businesses while they are trying to survive. With this new strain of virus coming from England, I heard it’s to get bad again. On TV the other night they showed that it’s a good idea to wear TWO masks so as not to spread anything. Gotta get over with soon, but I did hear late August or even late September. That’s not good. Seems like there will be no summer activities again this year. Guess we have to play it by ear.
St. Vladimir’s Church has pierogies for sale the first and third Sunday of the month. They are available at the Church Hall from Noon to 1 p.m. To order, please call 570-928-8909.
Have seen a few turkeys running around the field across the street. I think all the animals are at Connie Hatch’s house from her news every week. She has quite a few critters there.
Happy Birthday to Scott Aharonian, 27th; Jennifer Pequignot-Laird, 28th; Lisa Burke and Jason Burke, 30th. Hope you all have a super duper day.
If you have news you’d like in the paper, please mail me; call me at 570-928-9238; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com, by 6 p.m. on Sunday evening. Enjoy your week, whatever your plans. Seems its going to be pretty calm, but we’ll see. That’s it. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
