February 5, 2020
As I’m sitting here typing my news on Sunday afternoon, the snow is falling. First, it’s big puffy flakes, then it’s fine. The fields and the road are getting covered, but it’s still warm enough to try and melt some of it. The plow did go through late afternoon as there was enough to plow and shovel. Later in the evening it turned to snow and rain. The week wasn’t too bad after early morning frosts; the wind still with us. Phil DID NOT see his shadow so that means early Spring. If you can believe that. I’m going to hold him to it. Now, they want to not use the ground hog and use a robot. Never heard anything so silly.
St. Vladimir’s Church now has pierogies and halupki for sale the second and fourth Sunday of each month, from Noon- 1 p.m. Pick them up at the Church Hall. Stop by and stock up; they go fast.
The 2020 Lopez mug is going to be Sulick Hall. If you’d like to reserve one, let me know ASAP. Still $20 and the order will be going out soon. Don’t miss out. You may not get one if you wait until they’re here.
Winterfest is coming up on Saturday, the 15th, at Camp Brule. Check out the Sully and the Chamber website for information on this event. Also, check the Sully for other events that may be going on and you would be interested in.
Glad to hear Mary Lowden is progressing nicely after her recent surgery. She’s out and about a little bit and giving Ted a break from his duties.
Bob and I spent Friday in Forty Fort visiting his sister, Lola and Mike Mattie, his niece, Georgia Martin and her daughter, Casey. On the way home we stopped in Hunlock Creek to visit and have pizza with son, Bob, Jr. and meet the new kittens, Otto and Echo. Jr. spent Saturday at RIT in Rochester, NY, with his son, Tyler, and helped him celebrate his birthday. Nice time for everyone.
I heard the week is to be quite nice. Warm temperatures, but maybe some rain. I hope you’re not bothered with the flu or the colds that are going around.
Happy Birthday wishes to Alex Aharonian, 11th; Lisa Kellogg Williams, 13th; Tommy Van Dyke and Krystal Vermiere, 14th; and Haley Latch, 15th. Hope you all have a great day.
Hope you all have a nice Valentine’s Day with loved ones. Hope you do something special for that special person.
