February 12, 2020
As I was typing my news late Sunday evening, I happened to look out the window and it’s snowing lightly, small glistening flakes; maybe some light rain mixed in it. I think by midnight, when I checked, we had an inch, maybe more. During the week, after cool mornings, it warmed up a bit. Lows were in the 20’s except for Saturday, 6 degrees and Sunday 9 degrees. We had a pouring rain early Friday that changed to heavy snow and really came down. School had been cancelled the night before and that was a good call as it got worse as the day went on. There was enough to shovel and plow. Did go up to 50 degrees on Monday and Tuesday and that felt good. Was nice enough to dry laundry on the line and just love the smell of freshly air dried clothes. Of course, the wind is always with us, no matter what. I did hear this week it’s to get up in the 40’s, which a chance of rain showers. I did see some kids sledding on the hill across the street on Saturday.
St. Vladimir’s Church has halupki and pierogies for sale the second and fourth Sunday of each month. Available at the Church Hall from Noon to 1 p.m. Stop by and stock up. The do go fast.
Coming up on Friday is Valentine’s Day, so have a great day. On Saturday is Winterfest at Camp Brule starting at 7 a.m. and also the Wine and Chocolate Walk in Dushore starting at noon. Apparently, no toboggan slide in Eagles Mere this year, due to the warm weather and ice not thick enough to make the slide.
Happy Birthday wishes to Allison Lowden and Tim Brown, 17th, which is also President’s Day; Khloie Bahr, 19th; and Clair Johnson II, 20th. Hope you all have a nice day.

Hopefully we’re going to get an early Spring. I think everyone is ready to get out of this up and down weather. Hope everyone who is bothered by colds and the flu is feeling much better. I guess that Coronavirus is really causing problems. We can only hope it doesn’t hit here; the strain of flu we have now is quite bad.
Will leave you until next time and have an enjoyable week. Have news, call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me in person; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
