December 7, 2016
Weather is still pretty nice, except for the wind that doesn’t quit blowing. The weekend was pretty good, with temperatures in the 40’s. We’ll see if we get the snow that’s supposed to be coming. I would rather not see it, but it is winter and we’ve been pretty lucky so far. Lots of nice decorations around town for the Christmas Holidays.
Sympathy from the community to the family, relatives and friends of Donna Work who passed away on Saturday. Funeral will be held on Friday from Dean Homer Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Basil’s Church, with her pastor, the Rev Richard Rojas, officiating. Interment will be in the Parish cemetery. She will be missed.
Retro hoodies are now available. Check out www.lopezcivicassociation.com to see what they look like and prices. They’ve been requested by many and will be a good addition to your wardrobe for the wintry weather. Contact me at the info below if interested in ordering. You can also contact Brian McGuire at 570-928-9838.
Remember: No Civic meeting for the month of December. Everyone is busy with Christmas and New Year’s, so we take some time off.
St. Vladimir’s Church has pierogies for sale. To order, call 570-928-1099.
Mrs. Irene Huray spent some time over the Thanksgiving holiday with her daughter, Irene Pequignot, Linden. Shawn Pequignot family; Jennifer (Pequignot) Laird family; and Kevin Pequignot and daughter, Alyssa, all had Thanksgiving with them. Good time for all, with lots of left-overs for the following week.
Happy Birthday to Aaron Risser; 9th; Andrea (Matychak) Anderson, 12th; Dylan Amon, 13th; and Noah Brown, 14th. Hope you all have a nice day.
HINT: “Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser. Works better than a cloth.” (Have to try that. I hate foggy windshields.)
Guess that’s the news for now. Enjoy your week, even if we do get a little snow. Kids and hunters will like it, even if some of us “older” folks don’t. Have news, call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. I’ll be here next time and thanks for reading.
Does anyone remember the Cherry Township High School JUNIOR PROM memory dance booklet of May 14,1948???????? I have one. If interested, I will put some of the pages on in the future.
