December 12, 2018
I think winter weather is here. The week was up and down with temperatures, frost, flurries, sun and clouds. One day it did manage to get up to 45 degrees. The weekend wasn’t too bad for Santa as he stopped by Lopez to visit with the kids. The Civic Association would like to thank Theresa, Maddie, Macrina, Irena and Julianna Pochatko, Gloria Weisbrod, Carole Kilgus, Pat Arcaro and Linda Patson for the great job they did putting this event together. Also, to anyone who donated snacks, sandwiches and drinks. The kids enjoyed games, coloring and singing while waiting for Santa. The Pochatko girls did an amazing job with that. The kids enjoyed their gifts from Santa before he went on his way to the next stop. Thank you everyone and see you next year.
Congratulations to Kyler Burke and Aaron Kinsey as they made Distinguished Honor Roll.
HINT: “To get a pleasant aroma throughout the house, combine one cup of water and 2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice — or any combination of spices to your taste — in a large microwave-safe bowl and cook on high until it boils. When it reaches that point, cook for a minute or two. When cooled, remove from microwave and you’ll have a nice smell. Or, you can combine 6 whole cloves and a half lemon in a cup of water and microwave for a couple of minutes. Will make the house smell yummy.” (Family will think you are baking something good to eat.)
Bob and JoAnn McGuire enjoyed their mineral club Christmas Party held on Sunday at Villa Senna in Towanda. Great time to get together and visit for all.
Happy Birthday wishes to Dylan Amon, 13th; Noah Brown, 14th; Carter Vermiere, 17th; and Rev Mother Christophora and Christian Santarelli, both on the 19th. Hope you all have a nice day.
Hardly seems possible that December is going by so fast. Take a look, as you travel, at all the Christmas decorations and what folks have done to bring the spirit of Christmas to all.
Hope those of you who went hunting were successful in getting your deer.
Don’t forget to see Heather McDonald before the end of December to renew your membership in the Civic Association or to become a member. Just a buck for either Regular or Associate membership.
Guess that’s the news for now. Enjoy your week. Last I heard NO storms on the horizon and just to be cold, so that sounds good. I did hear from my niece in Richmond, VA, that it had been snowing all day Sunday and wasn’t stopping. We can be glad it missed us…….this time. North Carolina was in the same situation. They had 10 inches and still coming down. Many places had no power and trees and wires down. This year the weather has been so unpredictable. Have news, call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
