August 8, 2018
We’ve sure had our days of rain and power outages. It rained all week and made it very hard to prepare for our Old Home Day activities on Saturday. But, all turned out well and things got done and the Old Home Day turned out well, despite the mud and puddles all around. The kids liked playing in the puddles. There was no rain at all on Saturday.
The Civic Association would liked to thank ALL those who worked so diligently and you, the public, for making our day the success that it was. There was a nice crowd and I hope all had a good time.
The annual Civic picnic will be held on Tuesday, August 21st, 5 p.m. at the Pavilion. This is for all in the community and for those who worked Old Home Day. Bring a dish to pass and your table service. There will be a civic meeting at 6 p.m. Mark your calendar now and hope to see you there.
I know there were a lot of folks who came in for Old Home Day weekend, but I didn’t get names, etc., so if you’d like your family news in, please let me know and I can do that for next week.
Happy Birthday wishes to Kari Spinosa, 11th; Al Kapler, 12th; Linda Beaver 13th; Lisa (Beaver) Sperry, 14th; and Dustin Burke, 15th. Hope you all have a nice day.
The Homza reunion was held at Connell’s Dam on Saturday. Visiting
Irene Huray and Irene Pequignot on Saturday was Mickey and Karen Bednar; Paul, Marge and Lynn Bednar. On Sunday was Shawn, Crystal and Dylan Pequignot; Kevin and Alyssa Pequignot and friend, Levi. They all went blueberry picking and had no encounter with Mr. Bear.
St. Vladimir’s has pierogies for sale. To order, call 570-928-1099.
There will be a Job Corps CRC picnic at the Pavilion on the 16th at 5 p.m. This is for the community and to let you know what Job Corps is about and how they are doing. It is open to all, so hope you can go.
That’s it. I know there will be more OHD news for next week. Enjoy your day; looks to be quite nice. Have news, call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. I’ll be here next time and thanks for reading.
