Hope you all had a very nice Easter. Weather wasn’t that bad on Sunday. A little cool and then the sun would give some heat and it would be nice. Last Monday was the bad day with the heavy rain and the tornado that went through many areas of Sullivan County. Our power was off for nine hours, but some didn’t have power restored until much later than that. No one was hurt and everyone worked very hard to get things cleaned up. There is still clean up to do and will get done as time goes on and hopefully no more severe storms. We need a lot of warm weather to dry things up and not be muddy and squishy. We did have rain late Tuesday afternoon and all evening. I think that’s enough for some time. It is getting nicer so you see the kids out playing in the fields and yards, so that’s a good sign. Haven’t really heard the weather report for the week, so will take it day by day and see what happens.
HEADS UP!!! Here are some dates to put on your calendar:
SUNDAY the 28th — There will be park clean up at 11 a.m. This will be to get ready for park mowing. Volunteers are needed so if you can help, show up at the Pavilion at that time. The more help, the better and will get done in no time.
TUESDAY the 30th – Street sweeping will be done in Lopez. So, you might not want to wash and hang clothes on that day. It gets pretty dusty, but will be a good job done.
SATURDAY — June 8th – Dumpsters will be at the Township Building. Check with Tim Brown on particulars on this as to time, what you can bring and can’t bring. He can give you details.
SATURDAY – July 6th — Annual Lopez Flea Market at the Pavilion, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Table space available and also booths can be used. If interested, or for details, call me at the number below. Put these dates on your calendar so you’ll know what’s going on.
St. Vladimirs Church has pierogies for sale. To order, call 570-928-1099.
We enjoyed a cook-out on Sunday with Brian McGuire and Nina Weslowski. Also there was Marty Slocum and Bill Stasiak. Good meal and good time.
Some birthday wishes to send. Happy Birthday to Jon-Paul Matychak, 23rd; Katherine (Kapler) Applegate, 25th; Mickey (Fedorchak) Mowery, 26th; David Spinosa, 28th; and Abby Matychak, 30th. Hope you all have a super day.
HINT: “Homemade Oxi-Clean: 1 cup peroxide, 1 cup water, half cup of baking soda. Mix well and use two tablespoons per load of laundry.”
TJ, Allison, and Jase Lowden, along with Wesson, Marlton, NJ, spent a few days over the Easter Holiday at their home on Church Street and visited his parents, Ted and Mary Lowden, Maple Terrace. Was nice weather most of the time for being outside and taking walks.
Guess that’s about it. Keep an eye on the Sully for up-coming events in the County. Enjoy your week and let’s hope we’re going to finally get some NICE weather. Have news call me; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
