Well, we sure can’t complain about the weather; it’s been great almost all week. Other than a few frosty mornings and some really wicked wind, the days warmed up nicely. Last I heard, it’s to be nice right through Thanksgiving. Let’s hope so. Did you get to see the Super Moon?? It was awesome!!
Sympathy from the community to the family and friends of Jim Yarnall who passed away on Tuesday, the 8th. Funeral was held on Saturday, the 12th, from Dean Homer Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Dyer officiating. He will be missed; he was a friend to all.
Visiting last week with Ted and Mary Lowden, Maple Terrace, were her girlfriends, from Marlton, NJ, Michele Utz and Karen Bookwalter and son, Casey. They enjoyed quad riding and a trip to the Alpaca farm. Was a great visit; weather was great and Mary wished they could have stayed longer.
Ted and Mary Lowden were also visited by the bear last week. Mary said she’s now out of bird feeders and they lost one just a while ago. I told her maybe she should not put any out until she knows they are in hibernation.
Did you get to see the play, “A Fractured Election”? If not, you still have time. Final performances will be Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the New Albany Social Hall. Doors open one hour before the play. Get out and support these guys who do a great job with this fund raiser. They also have raffles, etc. to help with making some money.
St. Vladimir’s Church has pierogies for sale. To order, call 570-928-1099.
St. Vladimir’s Church is also hosting an Ethnic Dinner on Sunday, the 27th, Noon to 5 p.m. Eat in or take out and BYOB.
Bob, Jr. and Tyler McGuire, Hunlock Creek, visited on Sunday with Bob and JoAnn McGuire. Had a nice time and tasty lunch with them while they were here. Jr. brought up some of his homemade pumpkin/ cinnamon buns, complete with homemade cream cheese/pumpkin spice icing. Delicious.
Happy Birthday wishes to send out to Alek Laird and Mike McDonald, 19th; Jaeden Patson, 20th; Jeff Olsen, 22nd; Serenity Laird and Reese Baton, 23rd; and Cassidy Brown, 30th. Hope you all have a super day.
Happy Anniversary to TJ and Allison Lowden as they celebrate on the 17th. Have a nice day.
HINT: “Keep a few pieces of bread in your cookie jar to keep your cookies soft longer. May have to put new ones in after a few days.” (I do this and it does work.) “To cut down on odors when cooking cabbage, cauliflower or broccoli, add a little vinegar to the water.” (Now, this is one I’ll have to try; it does get pretty “stinky” when cooking.)
I guess the hunters are still out and about in the woods. Haven’t heard of any lucky ones so far, so guess they’ll keep hunting until the season is over.
Thanksgiving is coming soon. Hope you all have a blessed day with loved ones at this special time. Give thanks also to those who are serving our country to keep us free and won’t make it home for the Holiday.
Guess that’s the news for now. Enjoy your week; should be a good one. Have news, call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. I’ll be here next time and thanks for reading. Keep the hints coming.
