Will the wind ever stop blowing and give us some nice days? Saturday was miserable. Sunday wasn’t quite so bad. We did have some rumbles of thunder, lights blinking and a few sprinkles; then it was over and later the sun peeked out. Don’t know the weather for the week, but guess we’ll have some. Wait and see what each day brings and go accordingly.
St. Vladimir’s Church will have a Halupki dinner on Sunday, May 7th, Noon to 4 p.m. Eat in or take out; held at the Church Hall. Nice early Mother’s Day dinner.

I had a nice phone chat with Alice Fedorchak on Friday. She sounds really good; is enjoying herself, has lots of friends, and plays Bingo. She said to tell all her Sullivan County friends “happy Spring and Summer”.
Third marking period Honor Roll: Distinguished honors: Kyler Burke, Aaron Kinsey, Jacob Williams; and Trevor Kinsey. Honors: Paige Burke and Noah Brown. Congratulations to all for a job well done.

HINT: “Put cornmeal around your plants in the garden. Keeps the weeds from growing.”
With the nice weather, I see folks working on their gardens and flower beds. I think the pollen count is high as everyone seems to be affected with allergies. Seems like everything is coming out earlier than last year. Even the bear have been around earlier. He was last seen crossing the creek behind a house on Main Street.
Happy Birthday wishes to Diane Fanning, 9th; Elizabeth Spinosa, 10th; Xander Kapler and Kessler Gilbert, 12th. Hope you all have a nice day.
B’s gang sends Get Well wishes to Marty Slocum who recently had surgery. He’s doing well and hope he continues to improve. Ma and Pa also send speedy recovery wishes.
More activities will start taking place with the summer coming soon (I hope it is anyway). Check the Sully to see what’s going on.
Election Day is coming up on Tuesday, the 16th. Get out and vote.
Since Election Day is the 16th, the next Civic meeting will be on Wednesday, the 17th, 6 p.m. at the Pavilion, unless it’s really bad weather; will be in the Township Building.
Guess that’s it for now. Enjoy your week, whatever it is you may do. Have news call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
Sullivan County hit by big storms. Lopez not spared. I write with the power of a generator. Power went down Monday 7:30 pm and phones went also. It was put on 10:38 pm Tuesday and then shut off Wednesday after lunch but still have phones. An apple tree on Lilac Lane pulled over the lines and that in turn pulled the pole on the corner causing it to break. So we have no power till the pole is replaced and lines hooked up. The Sullivan Review is also in the dark and will be late in coming out. Our new Lopez advertising sign got hit bad.
