What a perfect Monday for the parades in Sullivan County. Thanks to all who came out to our parade on Monday morning in Lopez. Special thanks to the great group of kids that marched for the Civic Association, along with some parents. Also, to Heather McDonald who made the “unique” wreath this year and was placed at the Monument by Kathy Isett. Les Isett, first time speaker, did a fine job. Thanks to Kaeleigh and Kyleigh McDonald who handed out the flags for all who attended. Thanks to DJ “B” for the sound. Also, thanks to Mildred Fire Company for road duty to make sure no one come into town to disrupt the services. Can’t forget Clair Johnson II who took care of the podium If I forgot anyone, I thank you too. Hope to see you all again next year.
Can’t say the same for the weather during the week. Had some rain, was quite windy some days and pretty cool. Not summer weather at all. Saturday was really nice with some rain late evening. Sunday, Mother Nature sure didn’t cooperate. There was heavy rain and windy conditions. It did clear up late afternoon. Hope you all got your picnics in between the rain drops. “B”‘s 22nd Annual Turkey Smoke went on even though Mother Nature didn’t help things. Despite the muddy conditions, everyone had a good time, good food, good friends and good music. The fireworks were awesome again this year.
Don’t forget the dumpster will be at the Township Building on Saturday, June 8th. Call Tim Brown for particulars.
Saturday, July 6th will be the annual Lopez flea market, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pavilion. Table space available and also booths may be used. Food will be
sold by Lakeside Chef. Maybe something you’ll see that you’ve wanted for some time and you finally found it. Hope to see you all there.
St. Vladimirs Church has pierogies for sale. To order, call 570-928-1099.
Next Civic meeting will be on Tuesday, June 18th, 6 p.m. at the Pavilion. I think it will be warm enough up there. Clean up and plans for Old Home Day will be discussed. Hope you can make it.
Bob McGuire, Jr. and son, Tyler, visited on Sunday with his parents and brother and enjoyed B’s Turkey Smoke.
There were quite a few of the Borick clan who were in over the Memorial Day Holiday. Always have a great time at B’s Turkey Smoke.
Gerry and Paula Weslowski, son, Paul, and his friend, Chris, Allentown, spent the Holiday weekend with Nina Weslowski and Brian McGuire. Had a good time at B’s Turkey Smoke.
HINT: “Homemade oven cleaner: ¼ cup dish soap, ½ cup lemon juice, 1 cup vinegar,
and 1 ¼ cup water. Put in a spray bottle and shake gently. Spray your oven and let it sit
for about half an hour. Wipe the oven out and you’ll have a nice looking place to bake. (Don’t know if it works, but let me know if you try it and it does work.)
Guess that’s it. Check the Sully for things that may be going on in the County, now that summer will hopefully be here. Enjoy your week. I heard it’s to be pretty nice, but we’ll see what Mother Nature says. Have news call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I will get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
