Kind of a rainy weekend again. Little cool on Monday morning, but the sun is shining, so hopefully it will warm up. Last I heard, it’s to be sporadic rain showers all week until Friday. Guess the plants and flowers will like that.
Thanks to everyone who made our Memorial Day parade event a success. Was nice to see so many folks come out despite the early rain and chilly temperatures. Everyone who participated did a fine job. The Potchatko girls made little bags to hand out to the kids that marched and also for the veterans marching. The bag contained this note: “On This Memorial Day – Remember those who served before. Remember those who are no more. Remember those who serve today. Remember them as we eat and play. Remember our protectors who are not home today. Remember them all on Memorial Dal. Thank you for serving our County.” Thank you to Mildred Fire Co. who did traffic control. Was great not to have cars going in and out of town while the program took place.
St. Vladimir’s Church has pierogies for sale. To order call 570-928-1099.
Bob and I enjoyed the weekend, despite the rain, at the Wayne County Gem and Mineral Show in Canandaigua, NY, where UVBOB did the fluorescent mineral programs while we were there. Good show and look forward to next year.
So, since we were not home, I don’t really know what was going on here or who might have been here for the weekend. Did get one message on my machine that Joe and Diane Fanning, Landenberg, are spending a few days at their home on Church Street and doing some yard work; seems like a never ending job now for the summer, but much better than snow.
Don’t forget the flea market is this Saturday, the 10th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Pavilion. Come, check it out, might be a treasure you’ll find.
Civic meeting on Tuesday, the 20th, at the Pavilion, at 6 p.m.
B’s gang sends Birthday wishes to Nina Weslowski, 14th; and to Marty Slocum, 16th. Have a good day.
Happy Birthday to Nathan Kinsey as his special day is the 17th. Have a nice day.
Happy Anniversary to Bob and Lisa Burke as they celebrate on the 19th. Congrats, many more, and have a great day.
HINT: Here are a couple ways to kill ants. “Grits, instant rice and cream of wheat can be sprinkled around plants. The ant will eat a piece of whatever you sprinkle, drink water and the grain expands and kills the ant. Also, fill a spray bottle with one part vinegar and one part water and spray on the plants. The acid in the vinegar will kill the ants.”
Guess that’s it from here. Enjoy your week, might be half decent; weather forecast never seems to be right, so check out each day as it arrives. Have news call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. I’ll be here next time and thanks for reading. Keep the hints coming; I’ve had many good comments on them.
