Welcome to the 2017 Lopez Commemorative Mug
Herbert M Kellogg (1869) learned the jewelry business from his uncle in Towanda. He and the uncle opened a branch jewelry store in Lopez in 1890. Herbert then bought the business outright in 1892 and ran it adding toilet articles, patent medicines, and other commodities. The Lopez building had a portion of the store that was used by Dr J. L. Christian who operated a drug store. Herbert M Kellogg (1892, most knew him as Morris) grew up and helped with the store for a while but then was not used as a store for some time. In early 50’s, Betty and John Kravitz rented it and maintained a small business for a short time selling shoes and clothing. This mug is the Kellogg Store.
