January 3, 2018
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Hope everyone had a nice Christmas and New Year Holiday. Weather sure was brutal. Had snow Christmas Eve into Christmas morning. Had some more on Saturday, but not a lot. We had single digit temperatures almost all week and with the wind chill, it was much colder. The high didn’t reach freezing. Seems no end in sight for this cold weather. Guess we have to hunker down and stay inside where it’s warmer. Hope you all have a fantastic 2018.
Joe and Diane Fanning, Landenberg, along with Molly, spent a few days over the Holiday at their home on Church Street.
Spending Christmas Eve with the Mike and Lola Mattie in Forty Fort included Bob, JoAnn, Brian McGuire, Nina Weslowski; Bob, Jr. and Tyler McGuire, Hunlock Creek; Casey Martin and friend, Tom, Montoursville; Michael, Georgia and Mcguire Martin, Swoyersville.
On Christmas Day, Bob, JoAnn, Bob, Jr.and Tyler McGuire enjoyed family time with Brian McGuire and Nina Weslowski. Marty Slocum, New Albany; and Bill and Rhonda Stasiak also stopped by. Good time for all just visiting, eating and playing a new game Tyler got for Christmas.
Remember, NO civic meeting for the month of January.
Even the bitter cold didn’t stop Kaeleigh and Kyleigh McDonald from going tubing on the hill on Sunday afternoon. Looks like they had fun even if they didn’t stay out too long.
I hear muzzle loader for deer is in now. Good luck hunters.
Happy Birthday wishes to Jim Craig, 1st; Georgette Matychak, 3rd; Jeannie Kapler, Edith Tamburro and Alex Stavisky, 4th; “Viking”, 5th; Matt Weisbrod, 6th; Linda Santarelli, 7th; and Craig Germany and John McDonald, Jr., 9th. Hope you all have a good day.
Kids are back in school by this time after their Christmas vacation. Probably anxious for the next vacation.
HINT: “To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in the microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.”
Not much news for right now. Gotta get out and see who is about and what is going on.
From Mr. Neubauer’s little brown book: December 31, 1978 – light rain, cold and 26 degrees. (26 degrees, doesn’t seem like it would rain.) December 31, 2017 – bitter cold, very windy, and single digit temperatures all day. As I’m typing my news at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, it is already MINUS five degrees. Brrrrrrrrr!!!!!
Well, as I close out 2017, enjoy your week, whatever you may do. Bundle up if going out. Stay well; stay warm. Have news call me at 570-928-9238, mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. I’ll be here next time and thanks for reading.
