December 13, 2017
Weather had been kind of nice and the sun felt pretty good. But, we’ve had some pretty cold, frosty mornings too. Even had some snow flurries that didn’t hang around too long. Don’t know what the week will bring, but last I heard, Wednesday is to be the only nice day. All others are to have snow flurries and snow showers. We’ll see.
Retro hoodies are back in stock. This is a hooded sweatshirt with the deer, with earmuffs, and the Ice Box of PA logo on the front. They are great for the cold weather, whether out hunting, shoveling snow or just out with the kids. They also make a nice gift for that someone special. They don’t last long, so get yours now. They come in black or green and S, M, L, XL, XXL; $25.00 each. Call me at the number below if interested.
I guess hunting season is over for right now. Don’t know how the locals did, but a few I talked to, didn’t have any luck this time.
Thanks to Gloria Weisbrod and her “crew” who all did a fabulous job organizing the Christmas party this year. Thanks to everyone who donated cookies, sandwiches and snacks and helped in any way to make the party so much fun. The Pochatko girls were in charge of entertainment and had quite a few unique and interesting games that kept the kids busy while waiting for Santa. They also led in singing of Christmas carols. Santa arrived and greeted the kids and gave each one their gift. Was such a nice time for all. I think Barb would be proud; it was done in her memory. Thanks to St. Vladimir’s Church for the use of the Hall.Remember — no Civic meeting in the month of December.
Got the following e-mail to share from Mary Lowden. “A big thank you to TJ Lowden, Berlin, NJ; Jeff Corbett and Matt Porto, both of Marlton, NJ, for the help they gave in moving us into our new house. This was Matt’s first time to Lopez and he LOVED it! He was even able to shoot a gun for the first time. I think he was in heaven. Thought we were going to have to have his wife send his things; didn’t think he was going to leave, he was enjoying it that much and is looking forward to coming back again.”
Happy Birthday wishes to Carter Vermiere, 17th; V Rev Mother Christophora and Christian Santarelli, 19th; Alyssa Pequignot, 20th. Hope you all have a super day.
HINT: “To remove scratches from glass, apply toothpaste to the scratch, then rub with a cloth until the scratch is gone. Make sure the glass is clean beforehand.”
Bob and I attended the Che-Hanna mineral club Christmas Party on Sunday, held at the Best Western in Sayre. Forty club members gathered there for a delicious meal and socializing. Even played a few games. Weather was in our favor, other than a few flurries, so everyone got home safely.
From Mr. Neubauer’s little brown book: December 10, 1973 – mild and 30 degrees. Same day, 2017, our weather was about the same, except we had some cold wind.
Guess that’s the news for this time. Enjoy your week; still time to get that tree and get it decorated; still time to decorate your home or do other outside things. Enjoy while you can because I think Mother Nature is finally going to have something to give us. Have news call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
That is a MINUS 3 degrees. Keep in mind that I live in the warmer part of Lopez…..
