June 8, 2016
Guess there must have been some rain over the weekend. We weren’t home, but Sunday night coming back, we saw lots of puddles and wet spots. When Bob checked the rain gauge, it read .86 inches for the day. We missed all the rain this time. Guess the grass will be growing again.
Got the following e-mail to share, from Janet Weidner: Lyle and I were in Lopez for Memorial Day weekend and brought our son Leif and his bride Amanda and their son Ethan who is 11 now. Also for the first time we had their new baby Mia who is 7 months old now. She was born 10 weeks early. She’s our little miracle. Ethan had a blast playing with Luke next door and the O’Conner clan. We hardly saw him! Our daughter, Tish, is up for the weekend. The Weidner’s have a home on Lilac Lane.

Congratulations to Kassidy Brown who will be graduating with the class of 2016. He will be attending Point Park College in Pittsburgh and will major in Communications, Public Relations and Advertising. Good luck, Kassidy.
Bob and JoAnn McGuire spent Friday to Sunday in Canandaigua, NY, at the Wayne County Gem and Mineral Show. UVBOB did the mineral programs over the weekend. Was a very good show, with lots of educational things, geode cutting, a sluice for the kids and many dealers selling their wares. The weather was really nice Friday and Saturday and Sunday it poured for a while; turned nice so had a good attendance at the show for Sunday as well as for Saturday. Looking forward to next year.
Next Civic meeting will be Tuesday, June 21st, 6 p.m. at the Township Building.
Don’t forget that the Flea Market will be coming up on Saturday, August 20th, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Pavilion. I know it’s early, but you can start looking in your basement, attic and garage for things you may want to sell and make someone happy and you’ll be glad to get the things out of your way.
Don’t forget that June 14th is Flag Day, so be sure your flag is out. It’s nice to fly your flag every day, but the 14th is a special day.
Happy Birthday wishes to Sandy Kriel, 14th; and Nathan Kinsey, 17th. Hope you both have a great day.
B’s gang says Happy Birthday to Marty Slocum as he celebrates on the 16th. Have a good one.
HINT: “To remove stubborn crayon marks from the walls, spray with WD-40 and wipe with a cloth.”
Ted Lowden, Maple Terrace, is enjoying his motorcycle trip to Alaska. He and two friends are making the trip and keeping us informed through Face Book. Enjoy and be safe, I still think he should have taken Willy as his mascot.
Guess that’s the news for now. Enjoy the weather. I heard it’s to be pretty nice, so get outside. I know many are working in their gardens and flower beds and probably the lawn will need mowing. Grass never seems to stop growing, along with all the weeds. Have news call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I’ll get it in for you. You will notice that the e-mail address is a new one.
Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
