Another nice weekend. Did get some much needed rain on Saturday and Sunday, but it didn’t last long so didn’t do a whole lot. Rain predicted during the week, so maybe the gardens will get a good drink.
Don’t forget….Saturday, the 20th, is the flea market at the Pavilion, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hope to see you there. Spaces still available. So, clean out your attic, garage or basement and see what you no longer need or want and get a table and make a few bucks.
Sunday, the 21st, is the Civic picnic, 2 p.m. at the Pavilion. Bring a dish to pass and your table service. This is for all those who helped to make Old Home Days such a success. It’s also for anyone in the community who would like to come, even if you didn’t help Old Home Days. It’s a community picnic and open to the community. A good time to visit and get to know your neighbors.
Thanks to Lambert’s, Ron Gutosky and Ronnie Patson for making the hay ride the success it was during Old Home Days. Much appreciated. Thanks also to “Tent City” and others for their donations for the stupendous fireworks display on Saturday night of Old Home Days. Had a lot of great comments on the awesome fireworks show.
St. Vladimir’s Church has pierogies for sale. Call 570-928-1099 to order yours.
If you missed out on Lopez mugs at Old Home Day, we still have a few left. We have available 2013 (EUB Church); 2014 (The Lock Up); 2015 (Jackson Hotel); and 2016 (Lopez Restaurant). They sell fast, so if you’re interested, contact me at the info below.
There are also t-shirts, koozies, sweat shirts and license plates available, if anyone is interested.
Didn’t make it to Dushore Founder’s Day so don’t know how that was, but I’m sure it was another good time for everyone. The Outhouse races are always a fun event to watch and see all the different makes and designs of the outhouse.
Happy Birthday wishes to Andrew Froese, 20th; Mary (Maximiek) Santiago, 21st; Karly Amon, 26th; and Gaige Burke, 29th. Have a good day.
Happy Anniversary to Jason and Heather Burke as they celebrate on the 26th. Have a nice day.
HINT: “Looking for a fast and easy way to remove cellulite before going to the pool? Try rubbing a slice or two of cucumbers along your problem area for a few minutes; the phytochemicals in the cucumber cause the collagen in your skin to tighten, firming up the outer layer and reducing the visibility of cellulite. Works great on wrinkles too.!!” (OK, girls, give that a try and let me know how many cucumber slices you had to use.)
From Mr. Neubauer’s little brown book: August 14, 1978 – clear, cool and 50 degrees. August 14, 2016 we had hot, humid, a couple of storms and had to be at least 80 degrees. His would have been a little more comfortable.
Bob and I had an enjoyable time at the Che-Hanna Rock & Mineral Club picnic, held on Sunday at Saterlee Creek Environmental Center in Litchfield. A nice group of folks attended; lots of kids; all enjoyed the picnic, games and gold panning. We had a couple of down pours, but that didn’t make anyone leave early; we were under cover of the pavilion. Everyone looks forward to the summer picnics there again next year.
Here is an early school photo
Alex and Ginny Stavisky, Palm Bay, FL, and daughter, Cindy Stavisky, Orlando, FL, enjoyed some vacation time in Lopez. Visited with many friends and neighbors and enjoyed Old Home Day while they were here.
Bob McGuire, Jr. and son, Tyler, Hunlock Creek, visited with Bob and JoAnn McGuire on Saturday on their way home from vacation. They went to Corning glass, where Tyler made an all glass tic-tac-toe board, with the x’s and o’s. They also went on the US side to Niagara Falls, and a couple of other places of interest. Had a good time on their trip.
Guess that’s the news for this time. Enjoy your week, even if it does rain, should be warm. Have news call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I can’t put your news in if I don’t hear from you, so please let me know what’s going on with your family. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
