Oh my goodness!! We sure missed the big storm on Saturday into Sunday. We’re lucky if we had an inch of snow here in Lopez. It came down very lightly Saturday and then quit. So no sledding for the kids. I know there was one “kid” that wanted snow so he could try out his new “toy”. Soon enough, we’ll get snow. I think the kids were hoping for a snow day and no school. I feel really bad for those down in the Southern Counties and Southern States that really got hit so badly with snow and flooding. Many are still without power and have no home they can go to right now. So, we were pretty lucky this time. From what I heard, the week isn’t to be too bad either; maybe some snow showers, but no storms coming our way.
St. Vladimir’s Church has pierogies for sale. To order, call 570-928-1099.
Winterfest will be coming up soon. It will be Saturday, February 13th and Sunday, February 14th. It’s President’s Day weekend, so many of you may have Monday off so can spend the weekend at all the activities that will be going on there. Check the Sully for a list of things to do.
There will be no Civic meeting in February.
Still time to send your donation for Cold Spring. Mail it to Lopez Civic Assoc., P.O. Box 100, Lopez, PA 18628 and mark the envelope “Cold Spring”. Spring time comes and there will be more work done up there to get it landscaped and in better shape. Thank you to everyone who has donated. It is much appreciated.
HINT: “For icy walkways and steps, mix one teaspoon of Dawn dish liquid, one tablespoon of rubbing alcohol and one half gallon of warm/hot water. Pour over the walkway and steps and they won’t refreeze. No more salt eating the concrete.” (Good one for this wintry weather, if we do get some slippery conditions.)
Happy Birthday wishes to go to Kyra Vinetelli and Brian Dendler, February 1st; Dee Whatley, 4th; and Helen Amon, 5th. Hope you all have a nice day.
Pop-Pop, Gramma and Uncle “B” wish Tyler McGuire a Happy Birthday as he celebrates his 15th on February 2nd. Hope it’s great.
Just realized February 2nd is Ground Hog day. Will he see his shadow and we’ll have six more weeks of winter?? I can say for sure he’ll see his shadow with all the lights they have on him when taking him out of the hole.
Guess that’s the new for now. Enjoy your week; will be good for a walk or two. At least you won’t be shoveling and plowing like a lot of folks who got too much snow. Have news, call me at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at uvbob@epix.net. I’ll get it in for you. I’ll be here next time and thanks for reading.
