Hope you all had a nice week, whatever you did. We had some rain, but we really needed it. The gardens are doing well, with lots of produce. Flowers are looking good. The grass is kinda brown, but the rain helped with that too.
Don’t forget that school is in session, so please keep an eye out for kids and buses.
Saturday was a perfect day for a picnic at Lake Jean with the Bill and Linda Pfieffer family. Was a warm, sunny day and the rain held off until later in the evening. The kids enjoyed the beach, even though the water was cold, and got to play with some ducks that were swimming around. Adults enjoyed the sun. Food was good and there was lots of visiting to catch up from last year’s picnic. There was a cupcake contest where you had to eat the cupcake and find a little paper in the center. You had to do what the paper said. That was fun. There was an obstacle course, which the kids enjoyed. Everyone was a winner at that. A fun day for all and looking forward to next year.
Thank you to Carole (Fedorchak) Underwood for her hint about lettuce in last week’s column. Got a phone call from a lady named Ruth and she said it does work and she also uses it for cabbage. I did try it and it does work. Had my head of lettuce for over a week and was as good as the first day I bought it.
Happy Anniversary to Chase and Jodi Brumwell as they celebrate on the 2nd of September. Congratulations and many more happy years.
Sullivan County Fair is coming up soon. Official opening is the 2nd and runs to the 6th. Home talent night is Tuesday, the 1st, so if you have talent, please go and let us see what you do. There is always so much to see and do at the Fair. Food is always abundant and very good. Don’t forget to stop by the 4-H building and see all the great books available. You can get all your reading for the winter months. And, it’s all for a donation to the 4-H to help with expenses.
Keep an eye on the Sully for more up-coming things that will be going on around the County that you might be interested in.
Enjoy your week, whatever you may do, Hopefully some nice, warm, sunny weather will still be around for a while.
Have news you’d like in my column, give me a call at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I will get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
