Hope you all enjoyed your week. We did have some really nice weather and a little rain too. It rained all day Sunday so wasn’t a nice day for outdoor activities. Saw my first bear early Friday evening as he crossed the road and strolled through the cemetery, and went in to the woods. My neighbor said he’s had him now and then right by his garage. I missed him every time. Won’t say what the weather will do for the week. It’s always wrong. As someone always says, “we’re gonna have some”.
Here is a hint I got from Carole (Fedorchak) Underwood: When you buy head lettuce, take it out of the wrapper. Wrap it tightly in DRY paper towels, put it in a large zip lock freezer bag and put it in your refrigerator crisper. When you need some, just wash as many leaves as you need. If you’ll use the whole head, wash the whole head of lettuce. Throw away those paper towels and re-wrap with more DRY paper towels. This head of lettuce will last for a couple weeks in your crisper. (She says it really works and that’s why she called. Hope so. I’m going to try it as everything else I tried, did not work for me. Was always turning brown.)
FLASH: School will be starting on Thursday, so be watchful of the kids waiting for the bus and the buses on the road. Just slow down and everyone will be safe. If you HAVE to be in such a hurry, leave earlier, PERIOD!
Happy Birthday to Izzy Chapman, 21st; Willow Nitcznski, 28th. Have a nice day.
Happy Anniversary to Jason and Heather Burke as they celebrate on the 26th. Have a fantastic day and many more happy years.
Rain didn’t deter the last picnic of the Che-Hanna Rock and Mineral Club on Sunday, held at Hornbrook Park in Towanda. Was a nice gathering of folks, food was really good and Dave, as always, did the fun game. Even did the hot dogs and hamburgs on the charcoal grill in the drizzles.
Big up-coming event is the Sullivan County Fair. Official opening is the 2nd of September and will run until the 6th. There will be some things going on before that. I think Fair brochures are available most all over Sullivan County, so get yours and get the daily details. There will be the annual 4-H book sale where you can get a “ton” of excellent books, on all subjects, just for a donation to the 4-H. You can get your winter reading all in one place.
Keep an eye on the Sully for more things that will also be going on in the next week or so. May be something that you will really enjoy.
If you have news you would like in the paper, please give me a call at 570-928-9238; mail me (USPS); see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I will get it in for you. Have a special hint you really like? Or, some family news? Just e-mail it and I will include it in my news.
Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time. Have a great week!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
