Hope you all enjoyed your Labor Day holiday and were able to take in some of the events that were going on. We did have heavy rain, thunder and lightning on Wednesday and Thursday. Did some crop damage in places. . Was a little cool on Sunday, but I think this week will be better. We still have many days of warm and sunshine ahead (I hope).
Was a nice day at the Fair on Saturday while we were there from 2-6 p.m. We helped in the 4-H building with their annual book sales. Did quite well and many books were purchased, for a donation, and it all goes to help with 4-H activities. There were many folks there having a good time with all that was going on. Hope you made it too.
Happy Birthday to Alexia Vermeire – 13th and JoAnn McDonald, 19th. Have a nice day.
Happy Anniversary to Scott and Susan Aharonian who celebrate on the 14th. Have a great day.
Mildred Old Home Day coming up on Saturday, the 12th, noon to 8 p.m. This is to benefit the American Legion and the Mildred Fire Company, held on the Legion grounds in Mildred. There will be a chicken barbeque, fresh cut fries, cheese steaks and lots of other stuff going on. Live music will be by Wilburs Onion Wine. Hope you will be able to attend and support those great organizations.
On Saturday, the 19th, St. Vladimir’s Church will have a train meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Church Hall. Lots of interesting things will be going on there, so mark your calendar now so you won’t miss that event.
I’m sure there will be other things going on in the up-coming months, so keep an eye on the Sully to find out what, where and when. You’ll probably also see posters up around the County. They are all good things to support.
If you run out of cocoa for your children’s milk, use chocolate pudding. Add two teaspoons of pudding in a glass and then add your milk. Delicious.
Iced tea is really good on hot days. Make two cups of freshly brewed tea and add two spoons of raspberry or strawberry jam. Stir well and then pour it over the ice cubes.
I’d like to put something out there for the “older” folks. There is a lot of scam going around with phone calls. If you get any kind of phone call that you don’t know the number or they ask a question that asks for a “yes” or “no” answer, please DO NOT answer and hang up. As soon as you give an answer they have information they can use. Some folks have lost a lot of money due to this type of call.
If you have a favorite hint or recipe you’d like to share, please let me know at the information below and I will put it in for you.
Guess that’s it for now. Enjoy your week, whatever it is you choose to do. The sun is shining and it should warm up nicely during the day. Have news, give me a call at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I will get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
