HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Hope you all enjoyed the Christmas and New Year’s holidays with family and friends. Hope you also took some time to pray for our service men and women who couldn’t be home with their families as they are protecting our country.
We had some icky weather during the week. Had some single digit temperatures. Had a good snow storm on Tuesday that put down 4+ inches of snow and had some wicked wind. Can you believe it’s to hit a high in the 40’s Thursday, Friday and Saturday? May be a little rain too. I’ll believe it when it gets here, but sure would be nice.
The Civic Association would like to thank George Wenner for his generous donation in memory of Joseph and Helen Wenner and Molly Johnson. Very thoughtful of him and it will be put to good use.
Brian McGuire and Nina Weslowski spent New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day in Boston, MA. The family had a celebration for the 103rd birthday for Nan, Nina’s grandmother. She hasn’t changed much from last year; still looks so good. Still going strong. All enjoyed a good time. God Bless Nan and Hope 2026 is a good year for her.
With the ice we’ve been having, here is something for you to try. Mix one teaspoon of Dawn liquid, 1 Tablespoon of rubbing alcohol, and one half gallon of hot water. Pour that over your walkway and it won’t re-freeze.
Wishing Happy Birthday to Jeannie Kapler and Alex Stavisky (down in sunny FL), 4th; Matt Weisbrod, 6th; Linda Santarelli, 7th; John McDonald, Jr., 9th; and Crystal Pequignot, 12th. Hope you all have a nice day.
Happy Anniversary to Ted and Linda Beaver as they celebrate their special day on the 12th. Many more years to you both.
Sending get well wishes to anyone who may not be “up to par” right now and hoping you’ll feel better soon. Hope the “bugs”, flu, and viruses leave us all alone for the whole year.
There will be a lot of exciting things happening in 2026, so keep an eye on the Sully for something that you may be interested in. I know right now it’s the Eagles Mere toboggan slide. She what happens in the next couple of weeks. They are checking to see if the ice will be at least 14 inches to build the slide. Keep your fingers crossed. This is a major fund raiser for them. The warmer temperatures coming this week will be an issue.
I guess that’s it for the first issue of the year. Enjoy your week, whatever it is you may do. Warmer weather is on the way…….I hope. Have news, give me a call at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I will do my best to get it in. Please have your news to me by 6 p.m. on Sunday evening. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
