Happy Winter!! COLD, COLD, COLD!! WINDY, WINDY, WINDY!! What a week with the weather. I know you snow bunnies love this weather, but I’m ready for some warmer weather. The Eagles Mere Toboggan slide will be running on weekends until it gets to warm. I don’t think it will get warm for some time yet. If you haven’t gone, you should go. I’ve seen a lot of pictures where those that have gone really said it was “Awesome”. Even Channel 16 Jeremy and friend (I forgot his name) tried it out. It’s a fund raiser for the Fire Co., so support them.
Sympathy from the community on the passing of Joe Branosky, Carney’s Point, NJ., on January 15th. Long time Lopez resident and the family home is still on Jackson Hill, going out of town. Many family members still come to enjoy the home and Sullivan County. Just a friendly, nice person to have known.
Happy Birthday to Lisa Kellogg Williams, 13th; Tom Van Dyke, 14th; Haley Latch, 15th and Allison Lowden, 17th. Hope you all have a great day!
To keep cooked pudding and pie fillings creamy and prevent “skin” from forming on top, press plastic wrap directly on top of hot filling. Cool, then refrigerate, removing wrap when ready to use.
To keep fruit pies from boiling over in the oven, place a few pieces of macaroni or paper straws in vent slits on top of the crust. Remove when pie is done.
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY to all. Have an enjoyable day, whatever it is you plan to do. May be a little warmer by then. Last I heard, there is to be a warm-up later in the week, so let’s hope so. As someone just told me today, “We’ll get through this weather.” We made it last year, I guess we’ll make it this year. It could be a LOT worse, so be thankful for what you have.
Don’t forget, the 56th annual Che-Hanna Gem and Mineral Show is coming up the 4th weekend in March. Something for adults as well as kids to see and some things you can take part in. Watch here for more info as it draws closer.
If you have anything you’d like me to put in the column, please let me know by calling me at 570-928-9238 or e-mailing at news@lopezpa.com, I will get it in for you.
I guess that’s it for now. Guess I’ll go have a cup of hot chocolate and warm up. Stay warm and have a good week. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
