Brrrr!! That’s all I can say for this cold, snowy, windy weather we’ve been having. We had days with below zero temperatures and some days with below freezing temperatures. We can be lucky we haven’t gotten the snow and ice the South has been getting. They’ve had more than they’ve ever had and the ice is making it very difficult to work and get power restored to those places who haven’t had any for two weeks or more. They’ve called out the National Guard in North Carolina. Mother Nature isn’t treating us very well right now. Let’s hope for a warm up in the next few days. Did Phil see his shadow, you ask. I’m sure he very well did. If not, we’ll still get six more weeks of winter.
God Bless the many Fire Companies and volunteers who worked to get the Eagles Mere water slide in operation. From building the slide to taking care of the sleds and be sure you are safe on the sled, they are doing a fantastic job in this frigid weather. Be sure to thank them for the good time you had. Even give a donation. This is their major fund raiser for the year and every little bit helps. I’ve seen quite a few posts on Face Book about those who had a great time and hope it continues for a few weekends to come.
Don’t forget to mark you calendar for the Che-Hanna Gem and Mineral Show coming up the fourth weekend in March. More on this to come.
Joe and Diane Fanning, along with Molly, Landenberg, braved the snow and cold to spend a few days at their home here and to get some winter projects done, mainly snow blowing and shoveling. It was brutally cold, but they got it done.
Happy Birthday to Cecelia Stasiak, 8th and Alex Aharonian, 11th. Have a nice day.
I did not know this: Rolling pins and pastry boards should not be soaked and washed. Just scrape clean with a knife or scraper. (I’ve been doing it wrong for years.)
Keep an eye on the Sully as there are still things planned for up-coming weekends. You may be interested in something always going on in Sullivan County.
If you have anything you’d like in my news column, give me a call at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I will get it in for you. If you have a good hint you’d like in, let me know. Always looking for a good hint or a favorite recipe. Enjoy your week and I’ll be here next time. Thanks for reading.
