Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, whatever you may have done. Had some real good frost on Tuesday and Saturday, but warmed up nicely. Rain and windy on Wednesday. It hit 75 degrees on Saturday and 78 degrees on Sunday. Good day for working outside, if it wasn’t too hot for you. I’ll take the warmer weather and more if Mother Nature will be kind to us. Rain and thunder storms on the way? Your guess is as good as mine. Guess we have to take whatever we get. I don’t know if the “hummers” didn’t like the colder weather and went where it’s warmer for a while. We had one here for quite a while, but now he/she has left. Hoping she comes back soon. We have two bluebird families in our bird houses. Fun to watch them going in and out. We also have a phoebe or two building in a couple different places here. Nature….isn’t it grand!
Happy Anniversary to Tim and Bobbi Jo Brown on the 21st. Congrats and many more.
Happy Birthday to Janet Weidner, 22nd; Susan Aharonian, 24th; and Tanya Nitcznski, 25th. Hope you all have a super day.
I see in the last week’s paper, some of the ice cream stands are opening and other places are opening for the summer. Let’s hope they have a profitable time this year. Check them all out. There are ads in the Sully and also I hear a lot by “word of mouth”.
I know not many people have wringer washers, but I thought this was pretty funny. Fresh peas can be shelled very fast with a wringer-type washer. Put a pan on one side of the wringer to catch the peas and the pods go on through. You would think the peas will go through the wringer and be mashed the moment the pod hits the winger, but they will pop out before they go through. A fast job can be done this way. Entertaining, isn’t it!
Nicer weather is really on the way, trust me. Keep an eye on the Sully for those events coming up that you may be interested in. Always some good things going on in Sullivan County.
I think that’s it for now. Enjoy your week. If you’d like news here in my column, please call me (by 6 p.m. on Sunday) at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or email me at news@lopezpa.com. I will get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time. Comments, suggestions or criticism always welcome.
