Weather was “iffy” during the last week. Lot of smoke from the Canadian fires. Made for lots to stay inside because of breathing difficulties. You think the smoke is going away and the next day it’s still around. Hopefully soon, so everyone will feel better We did have some rain that we need. A couple of really windy days too. With a couple of hot days, was good to go the the “crick” and cool off. Didn’t get the big storm that was predicted for Saturday. We did get a couple of showers, but nothing to write home about. Turned out to be a nice day. Sunday was a perfect day for any outside activities. How’s your garden doing? Seems they are doing pretty well. Soon will be time to pick the produce and “put it up for the winter”, what doesn’t get used right away.
Happy Birthday to Billy Stasiak, 23rd; Jan Marie Manuel, 25th; and Tessa Chapman, 27th. Have a nice day.
The past week Bob (UVBOB) was busy. He did several mineral programs for some libraries. Good turn out and fun for the kids (and adults too).
Sunday, Bob and I attended our Che-Hanna mineral club picnic held at Jim King Park in Athens. Many gathered for good food, visiting and a really fun game. Good time for all.
I thought I’d share a big time saver when doing spaghetti sauce. Rather than do it on top of the stove and keeping an eye on it, put the sauce in the oven at a low temperature, about 250 degrees (to keep it bubbling). Do this for several hours, but no stirring, sticking or burning. Can do some other things and not have to worry about it.
Something that sounds good is….when making baked macaroni and cheese casserole, add one chicken bouillon cube and it changes the whole aspect.
Keep an eye on the Sully for many events that come up. Lopez Old Home Day will be on Saturday, August 1st, and will be celebrating 150 years. Held on the hill at the Pavilion, starting at Noon. Take some time to stop up and see what’s going on. There will be other events going on around the County that you may also be interested in.
I think that’s about it. Are any of you bothered with that new virus going around? It’s miserable, that’s for sure. Hope you all get over it very soon. The only problem is, it is said that it can come back again at a later time.
If you have news you’d like in the paper, give me a call at 570-928-9238; mail me (USPS); see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I will get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
