Hope you all had a enjoyable week. We did have a good rain storm just after midnight on Saturday. The rest of the rain that was predicted went around us as we didn’t get what was called for. We’ll see for the week what we will be getting. The gardens and flowers seem to like whatever we do get.
The Lopez Civic Association would like to say a heartfelt Thank You to everyone who worked so hard to make Lopez Old Home Day such a success. The time, energy, and passion that went into bringing everyone together truly showed. It was a beautiful reflection of our mission and the incredible impact everyone has for our small community. We truly THANK YOU!! (The weather was perfect.)
Sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Steve Bensarasky who passed away on the 23rd of July. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Tent City was over flowing with campers over Old Home Day week and weekend. Always a good time while they are here. They did an awesome fire works display on Friday evening that many enjoyed. Many of them enjoyed Old Home Day that Saturday.
Irene (Huray) Pequignot, Linden, spent the weekend at her home here. She enjoyed her class picnic, held at Connell’s Dam on Saturday. Had a nice visit with her on Sunday.
Mark your calendar now. St. Vladimir’s Church is hosting a Train Meet on Saturday, September 19th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will be held at the Church Hall. They will have vendors, a test track will be available, model trains, free parking and much more. If you’d like to be a vendor, contact Father Gregory White. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. All aboard for a great day of trains.
Did you know if you put onions in the refrigerator for a few days before using them, they will not smell or make you cry when using them. (I don’t use onions, so can’t test this. Hope you try it to see if it does work.)
Happy Birthday wishes to Linda Beaver, 13th, Dustin Burke, 15th, Kevin Pequignot, 16th, and TJ Lowden and Grayson Schiele, 17th. Have a nice day.
Happy anniversary to Bill and Bonnie Killian as they celebrate on the 16th. Congrats and many more.
Hardly seems possible that summer is about gone. School will be starting soon. The Sullivan County Fair is coming up on the 2nd of September. August has gone by so fast. Hopefully we will have some nice, warm, sunny weather before the “cooler” Fall weather gets here.
Hope you all enjoy your week, no matter what you may choose to do. Something, anything, or nothing. Keep an eye on the Sully for those events that will be coming up. May be something of interest to you.
If you have news you’d like in the paper, please give me a call at 570-928-9238; mail me; see me; or e-mail me at news@lopezpa.com. I will get it in for you. Thanks for reading and I’ll be here next time.
