Sure is frost on the pumpkins now, almost every morning. We did have a pretty good thunder storm on Friday with heavy rain and lots of thunder. Saturday was rainy and very windy and cold. Sunday was frosty early, but did turn out nice and sunny during the day. Was good for outdoor work. Here I am early Monday morning, frost again. Guess that’s going to be the weather pattern. I did see we may still have some nice weather, so that will be good.
Sympathy from the community to the family, relatives and many friends of Linda (Hallabuk) Baton who passed away on the 16th. There will be a memorial prayer service on the 23rd at Homer Funeral Home, with the Rev Gregory White, pastor of St. Vladimir’s Church, followed by a graveyard service at SS Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic cemetery in Lopez. She will certainly be missed by all. Will miss her poems that she was putting in the Sullivan Review.
Happy Birthday to Marty Whatley, 25th; Kay Lynn Kapler, 26; Makayla Day 27th; and Misty Pequignot, 31st. Have a nice day.
Happy Anniversary to Marty and Dee Whatley as they celebrate on the 27th.
Halloween is coming up soon. Do you have your costume planned? (I’m going as myself and that’s spooky enough.) Have you carved your pumpkins? I see lots of decorations up in my travels. Looks really nice. Enjoy this time of the last of October.
Still wondering if we “fall behind” in November with changing our clocks. It’s been debated, but have not heard any official announcement as to what we will do. Guess we have to wait and see.
Connie – thanks for the plug. I think with you, Carol, and Eloise we pretty much have it all covered in our columns.
Do you know what an “outie” is? Well, I’ll tell you. When a baby was born, sometimes the navel would not go back in. Hence, the name. Mothers would cook a raisin until it plumps up and then put it on the navel. It always worked. Some people put a belly band on the baby, which was a piece of cloth that they fixed tightly with safety pins against the belly, for pressure, and it makes the navel go back into position, Some put a coin, like a fifty cent piece, over the navel under the belly band. Could you imagine if the belly button didn’t heal, to gather some cobwebs and lay them on top of the area and it would go back in. Hence, the name “outie”. (History lesson for today.)
Keep an eye on the Sully for more events that will be coming up in the next few weeks. Always something you may be interested in watching or taking part in.
Enjoy your week. ‘Bout time for the winter coat and gloves. I’m just not ready for this.
